Story (amazon):
The Land of Stories tells the tale of twins Alex and Conner. Through the mysterious powers of a cherished book of stories, they leave their world behind and find themselves in a foreign land full of wonder and magic where they come face-to-face with the fairy tale characters they grew up reading about.
But after a series of encounters with witches, wolves, goblins, and trolls alike, getting back home is going to be harder than they thought.

Review:
Chris Colfer is a briliant author. And I'm not saying this because he is "great, Golden Globe-winner, and Glee-actor" Chris Colfer. I'm saying it because he is, as an author, incredibly good.
You feel youself thrown back in time - when you were as young as Alex and Conner, loving fairy tales more than any other stories.
Colfer managed, to let me feel part of his story and got me caught in the book. I couldn't stop reading. Everytime, someone disturbed me in my room while reading, I would yell at him "leave me alone!" and immediately read further more. It's not that I didn't want to stop reading - I did! Because I never wanted the book to end, at no point.
I'm very glad that there will be a second book of "The Land Of Stories"-series, which will take place two years later (announced on twitter from Chris Colfer personally).
His imagination is absolutely wonderful.
Did you ever think of the weirdness behind the Prince Charming? Every princess got Prince Charming in the end. But how would that be possible? Mr Colfer just figured that there have to be more than one. In fact, there are four brothers: Chance, Chase, Chandler, and Charlie.
Also, what is the story of the "Evil Queen"? I have to admit, I never ever thought about her life. Why she was so angry and evil. Why she had to have Snow White dead. But Chris Colfer thought of something as good as the original fairy tales themselves. Of course, I won't tell what. It would ruin all the fun you'll have with the novel.
Christopher connected al the worlds you discovered when you were young and turned them into one. You'd may say: "How is that possible in a logical way?" Well, it is! The Elf Empire, The Dwarf Forest, The Northern Kingdom (Snow White), The Corner Kingdom (Rapunzel), The Charming Kingdom (Cinderella), The Red Riding Hood Kingdom (Yes, "Little" Red Riding Hood is now a Queen! Even if her grandmother does all the governance), The Troll and Goblin Territory, The Fairy Kingdom, Mermaid Bay (Little Mermaid), The Sleeping Kingdom (Sleeping Beauty; well, her Kingdom didn't turn out to be a real "Happily Ever After") - everything exists and create all together "The Happily Ever After Assembly".
In the beginning of the american version is a wonderully, well drawn map of the Assembly from illustrator Brandon Dorman who also drew one picture of each chapter. The book is greatly designed and the cover means something related to the content of Colfer's Story.
The book is written with so much love and heart. You'll notice when you read it, I promise. It's such a great reading experience. There's a very great humor, some well-thought life lessons, kids you will admire for their bravery, nice surprises, deep-down-going thoughts who won't leave leave your mind, and also sad scenes. But evrything has written in great letters on it: "PASSION!".
Chris Colfer wrote so well that every children will love this book - but also every parent or adult or adolescent. I instantly wish, that nobody will say "uh, just another children's book" or "Chris Colfer? No, then I won't read it". Because you will miss one of the best novels out there. For children and olders.
I give 5 out of 5 starts for this book. I hope you read this review and what I hope so much more, is that you'll read the book.

:)
Ein letztes Zitat aus dem Buch:
"Do you think it was magic?"
